ONE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP: Return of Warriors

ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC) is Asia’s biggest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event and it is about to return to Kuala Lumpur for the second consecutive year with more fighters from different weight-class and trained with different fight discipline.
Recently ONE FC has announced the partnership with TUNE TALK as being the official telco for ONE FC. As seeing Mixed Martial Arts has begun to hit mainstream in Asia.

With this sponsorship, they are both set to conquer the industry as CEO of ONE FC Victor Cui stated,
“This is one of the most exciting sponsorship announcements that we’ve made. This partnership will see the activation of ONE FC content across Malaysia at an unprecedented level. Soon ONE FC and TUNE TALK will roll out campaigns across all media platforms throughout the country. I’m thrilled to be working with Tune Talk and the Air Asia Family.” Victor Cui also added during the press conference that they are now building a partnership with ESPN which is looking great!

Partnership - together to triumph

As the spotlight was directed to CEO of TUNE TALK Jason Lo stated, “Tune Talk, the country’s fastest growing mobile prepaid service is proud to present ONE FC in Malaysia! MMA, although I believe is quite new in Malaysia, has its own ardent followers here and the number is quickly growing. MMA is a very attractive, crowd-pulling sport and we see a lot of potential in it. Tune Talk is proud to be associated with MMA, and would like to be the first to help develop the sport locally.”  After having said that, TUNE TALK and ONE FC announced recently that they signed AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor as the official ambassador to make MMA a prominent sport in Malaysia. The obvious notice is that the two CEOs' show their great interest towards the sport as they work together to triumph.

But to everyone's surprise, guests asked during Q&A, "Why in Malaysia?" Well because of talented fighters in Malaysia, who are well trained with different fighting techniques as well as outstanding connections with sponsors, said CEO of ONE FC Victor Cui.
He added,"The entitlement to make a world class product and a sport that sells out seats."

On the side note, sports like these is not just for the boys anymore, as girls too enjoy a good fight in the ring these days. Hence, a good idea for girls to pick up some self-defense classes to beat up your boyfriend on your free time (a great way to spend time together, i suppose?).

The press conference was no doubt a breath-taking experience based from the opportunity of meeting the fighters up-close, almost makes me feel like being a fighter like them someday. This is definitely going to be a big hype once everything are in motion because ONE FC is also looking to further expand the market and recruiting fighters from India, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan to participate in the future.

Meet & Greet With Lee Priest

Lee Priest
Lee Andrew Priest McCutcheon, born on the 6th of July 1972, hailed from Australia, who's amongst the pro-bodybuilders and also visited Malaysia for a Meet & Greet Session! Thanks to EgoNutrition Malaysia for bringing the aspiring champion to everyone. The session was held at Royale Bintang, The Curve in a conference room. Upon entrance we are then welcomed by the team from EgoNutrition for registration and each person was given a goodie-bag.

A/S/L please...

Many others were already seated down in the conference room and unfortunately I was not one of early-birds at the front row. Moments later, the emcee for the afternoon made his introduction for Lee Priest and then stepped in the man-of-the-hour. Mr. Lee Priest! The crowd went wild, standing and cheering, most of them whipped out their camera phones and DSLRs’ filling the room with white flashes you could almost go blind.

Big Man on stage

After a few minutes of ‘Korean Artist Moment Syndrome’, everyone remained calm and seated. Lee Priest gave a quick talk about how he first started out bodybuilding when he was about 15 years of age. He grew up watching He-Man and had been inspired by his grandfather who’s also a bodybuilder to be where he is right now.

Tips and Tricks from the Priest

The crowd was genuinely entertained by his humour and given advices to the general public.

The floor was then open to a Q & A session to the crowd. You get funny questions like – a 15 year old boy searching for a kind of ‘magical pills’ he could use to get big and strong, fast. Or, even questions like – are you single? But, you also get smart and informative questions like – How much cardio do you do?/How often do you train on-season/off-season?

Q&A Session

Mr. Lee Priest was asked to flex and pose for the crowd

EgoNutrition then closed the Q&A session for a little treat. They had a lucky draw for the people who attended and the following pictures are the few lucky winners.

The final part of the day, was the long queue of getting our posters signed by Mr. Lee Priest and a picture taken with him.

Longest and most tiring queue but worth the wait.

Here's where we choose our posters.

Standing next to him made me feel so small and insignificant. His forearm is bigger than my entire arm combined!

After getting home I opened up my goodie bag and inside was 2 pre-workout sachets from Infinite Labs: Juggernaut, an awesome T-Shirt and not forgetting the poster from the autograph session.

It was an honour to have met him and to have attended his talk. Those who are interested in bodybuilding and fitness but could not have made it just missed this one opportunity.  Next year, we hope that EgoNutrition could bring in Jay Cutler.

America On A Plate

Been working out a lot lately? Been sticking to a healthy diet? I know I have, and there are times when I need to crack open for a good self-rewarding meal for all the hard work. If so I would recommend a place to try out-

 “Betty’s Midwest Kitchen”.

Upon arrival, the place was packed and there was a queue to about 10-15 people waiting outside for their turn to be seated. Well, I did not like the waiting system for sure because it requires you to have an exact amount of people otherwise you will not be seated. Example, say I asked for a table for 5 but I only have 3 friends with me at that moment because the other friend was running late. Now in that situation, Midwest Kitchen will NOT have me and my 3 friends seated first before my other friend arrives to be seated together with us. They will tell me and 3 friends to wait outside first until my other friend is present before allowing us to be seated. But with that said, they took our orders while we were waiting outside at least. We bypassed that by saying we only have 4 people and the 5th friend will not be joining us. *We lied*

“The Wait”

As we finally got to our table, the menu was given again in case of other additional orders.

“The Menu”

About 10 - 20 minutes later... Food was served and I was famished.

 "Classical Meatloaf - RM16.50"

One of my friend had this. A classical Midwest- style pork meatloaf. Served with house mash potato, peas, onion relish and their very own beer-based dip.

Rating: 4.0/5.0

"Country Fried Chicken - RM15.00"

My other friend ordered this - A quarter chicken marinated and deep fried for crispy skin and tender meat. It is served with traditional homemade country gravy, house mash potato and peas.

Rating: 3.8/5.0

"Cheese Burger - RM16.00"

A hamburger with a grilled beef and pork pattie topped with bacon and sliced chees, lettuce, tomato and onion relish served on a basket of fries.

*I had this one. Personally, I thought it was just an ~Okay~ Burger. Was quite disappointed with the size, and the flavour was abit blend. I could barely see the bacon though. Wasn't impressed with the fries either.*

Rating: 3.0/5.0

"Jucy Lucy - RM15.00"

Hamburger with melted cheese core inside the grilled beef and pork pattie, lettuce, tomato and onion relish served on a basket of fries.

I must say this was impressive, Joanna ordered this and it looked pretty good.

Rating: 3.5/5.0

"Dog Food - RM10.00"

This is an interesting side order. It is Fries drenched in gravy, topped with cheese. I loved this one!
I could order this and finish it up myself and yes it is that good!

Rating: 4.2/5.0

"Apple Crumble with Vanilla ice cream - RM8.00"

That friend who was late finally arrived and he ordered this. As you can see, it is a mountain of sugar. I used to love apple crumble but I doubt I can handle it anymore. He provided his rating as -awesome. Hmm...

Rating: 4.0?/5.0

 "Original Stewart's Fountain Classics Rootbeer - RM6.50"

I am really NOT into sweet drinks but my friends really liked it, i tried tasting it and it was too sweet for me. But it really differs to individual as you may enjoy it better than I.

Rating: 3.7/5.0

Summing it up,

The Pros –

  • Taken our orders while we were waiting outside, at least.
  • Food is great for its price range of RM10-RM35.
  • Has its interesting flavor and the “Dog Food” is a must try.
  • People who love sweet drinks should try having their Root Beer but don’t pig out.

The Cons -

  • Ridiculous waiting system.
  • No reservation allowed for dinner.
  • Some food takes about 20 minutes for it to be prepared, so if you are really hungry I would not go for the burgers ,but if you do not mind the wait than that should not be a problem at all.
  • Was not impressed with the "Cheeseburger"
